Rajasthan Royals was the first franchise to win the Indian Premiere League in 2008, though they haven’t been able to replicate their success ever since. Despite having big names like Jofra Archer and Ben Stokes in their arsenal, the franchise is usually in the bottom half of the table.

With a new captain, Sanju Samson, it will be interesting to see RR perform under this revised captaincy, though things are going to be even more difficult for the youngster due to Archer’s injury.

RR also made the highest bid ever in IPL’s history bagging Chris Morris for a whopping 16.25 crores, with this interesting bidding strategy, we have tried to compile a suitable playing 11 which could maximize their chances of qualifying further.

  1. Sanju Samson (c)

Sanju Samson is a sensational player, some call him a generational talent, and his ability is often compared to Rohit Sharma. Rajasthan Royals sold Steve Smith in the auction, and replaced him by Samson, the replacement itself highlights the importance of the player.

Sanju scored the first century of IPL 2019 and his batting prowess has impressed everyone, it will be delightful to observe him as a captain for the first time in the IPL.

2) Jos Butler (wk)

Jos Butler is an integral part of the Royals, he has the ability to hit huge sixes, as well as anchor the innings at a healthy strike rate.

In 2020, butler scored 328 runs in 13 matches, at an average of 32.80. The most note-worthy statistic is his destructive strike rate of 144.49. He makes full use of the powerplay, and if he lasts throughout the innings, he can be a bowler’s worst nightmare.

3) Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal’s has had a successful past, his most phenomenal record being the five 50+ scores out of 6 innings in the under 19 world cup held in South Africa.

He was picked by Rajasthan Royals at a price of 2.4 crores, and is expected to get a chance in the playing 11, due to the amount of talent he possesses.

4) Shivam Dube

Shivam Dube is a talented youngster, and has faced several ups and downs throughout his short career, he is now a part of the Royals, and with his past learnings with Virat Kohli & co, he is expected to bounce back.

Fans also hope top see Dube replicate the trend of RCB players performing better after leaving the franchise, like KL Rahul. It would be interesting to see Shivam Dube in the colors of the Royals.

5) Ben Stokes (vc)

Ben Stokes is currently the world’s best all-rounder, his famous exploits being the World Cup and the Ashes victories. He has loyally served the Royals (pun intended) and is expected to do so this season as well.

Stokes was expected to lead the side after Steve Smith’s underwhelming season, however, it wont affect his ability to bowl those economical middle overs and hit huge sixes.

6) Rahul Tewatia

Rahul Tewatia came to limelight after hitting 5 sixes in an over in the UAE, after a slow start. He can also bowl a few overs in case a bowler fails to impress.

Tewatia was a quintessential part of the Royal’s strategy, after setting up improbable wins, his wrist soinning abilty comes in handy in crucial times as well.

7) Shreyas Gopal

Shreyas Gopal, another leg-spinner came to limelight after claiming a hat-trick in one over given to him in IPL 2019, the young man has not looked back ever since.

In 14 matches, he managed to bag 10 wickets, in the previous IPL season in the UAE, the current IPL season in India would accentuate his bowling prowess due to the advantageous sub-continent conditions.

8) Jaydev Unadkat

Jaydev Unadkat became the costliest Indian player in 2018, after being sold to Rajasthan Royals at a price of 11.5 crores.

The 2017 IPL season was the best for Unadkat after he claimed 24 wickets in 12 matches of Rising Pune Super giants, despite the fact that he has not been abke to make an impact since, RR has showed faith in him, 2021 will be his fourth year in the franchise and the fans would love if he manages to justify this faith with a comeback.

His role will be even more pivotal in the team with the absence of Jofra Archer.

9) Chris Morris

Chris Morris was the most expensive player in the IPL auction, sold to the Royals at a whopping 16.25 crores. He is a classy bowler, and he is a great exchange for the injured Jofra Archer.

RR has shown faith after spending such a ginormous amount on the player and the fans would love it if he lives up to the price he was sold at, by bowling economically and bagging multiple wickets.

10) Kartik Tyagi

Kartik Tyagi was one of the things that seemed to work for Rajasthan, granted he was a bit expensive, given his average 40.77 and an economy of 9.61, his talent was witnessed by the world.

Fans would love if he manages to live up to the amount of talent he has, and make it a season to remember.

11) Mayank Markande

Mayank Markande was previously a part of Mumbai Indians, where he seldom got a chance due to the great form of Rahul Chahar, he, later joined the ranks of the royals.

Hopefully, he will get greater opportunities to play for his new franchise where he can display his talent.
